Wind River
White Water Class: IIOverview:
The Peel watershed, which contains the Wind, Bonnet Plume and Snake Rivers, is one of the last untouched wilderness areas on our planet. There are fantastic hiking areas around Mount Deception and Bond Creek. For those who want to learn more about this area, the books "The Lost Patrol" by Dick North and "The Wild Rivers of the Yukon's Peel Watershed: A Traveller's Guide" by Juri Peepre and Sarah Locke, are both good reads.
On the Wind River, Class II rapids await, and the upper sections of are narrow with some obstacles. On the Peel River section, you will paddle high, standing waves in the Peel Canyon. Please take caution when paddling during high water. This river is very fast and mostly shallow since it often splits into several channels.
